| The Surging Sea of LOVE - Pujya Asharam Bapuji |
What is it that connects a Guru and a disciple, a mother and a child, God and a Bhakta? It is immaculate love. Love is God’s very nature and the essential want of the jiva (the individual soul). Bound by His nature, God wants to give love, bliss and joy to all living beings. For that purpose, He incarnates Himself in the form of great men, His nitya avatar, and thereby makes a rare possibility of the expression of His nature to satisfy the want of jiva materialized.

Pujya Sant Sri Asharamji Bapu is one of such great men, nitya avatar, whose heart is a surging sea of love. Bapuji always showers the nectar of love. Therefore, whoever comes to his satsang or into his holy company is overwhelmed by his love. At times, his love guides us on the path of life by holding our hand like a mother and at others, his love disciplines us like a father. Like a friend, his love rescues us, and like a kinsman, he protects us. Guiding us like a Guru, his love gives us inspiration and strength at every step. At times He wears different costumes to enrapture us as a Jogi. Thus finding in Bapuji a perfect manifestation of love one utters spontaneously,
‘You are my mother; you are my father. You are my brother; you are my friend. You alone are knowledge and wealth. Oh Lord, you are everything to me.’
Pujya Bapuji says, “Love is born of trust. Trust is rooted in sincerity. Sincerity should be based on the spirit of altruism. The more sincerely we wish for mutual good, the more is trust developed between us, and the more our heart is filled with love.”
There are evil traits in man. But there also are good traits in him, which become dominant in due course of time. As a seed germinates on getting water and manure, our good traits germinate when they are nourished with the love of a saint. Having the darshan and proximity of a saint, having his gracious glance even the most sinful of sinners undergoes a radical transformation. Bapuji’s glory is sweet and divine. Through Mantra-Diksha, he gives us a spiritual birth. Through his satsang and guidance, he teaches us the art of making our lives fulfilled. He saves us, with his unparalleled yogic powers, from all entanglements and temptations we come across treading the thorny path of life. He gives us strong support whenever we face obstacle in life.
Love incarnate, Pujya Bapuji says, “When dealing with people, treat them with affection and affinity for pure selfless love is the only means to lead a happy life. The world is starving of love. Therefore, don’t keep your sublime love concealed in your heart. Dispense it liberally to all around you. This will go a long way in making the world free from misery.”
Pujya Bapuji is compassion incarnate, endowed with greatness, unfathomable ocean of love. Ordinary materialist people cannot understand him. If thorns do not stop pricking others, how can flowers stop spreading fragrance? If the detractors don’t desist from smear campaigns, how can Bapuji stop dispensing love and compassion? Pujya Bapuji is smiling like a rose in the midst of the thorns of slanderers, spreading the fragrance of satsang, service, love, Bhakti and Knowledge.
Politicians are surprised to see the mammoth crowds at Bapuji’s satsang. They say, “To collect some 10-20 thousand people to our public gathering, we have to spend a lot of money, make promises and use force. Even then it becomes difficult. But bound with the magic strings of Bapuji’s love, people are dragged to the path of liberation, sit in the satsang pandal till the end of the session. The concern of our workers is how to bring crowds and the concern of Bapuji’s attendants is how to make arrangements for the surging crowds.”

It is because of Bapuji’s love that people come to satsang unmindful of bodily discomforts, hunger and thirst, vagaries of the weather like cold, heat and rain; and man- made adversities like curfew, political unrest, etc., and eagerly, affectionately they keep waiting for Bapuji’s arrival for hours at a stretch. Can anyone keep them seated by force or money? No, it is Bapuji’s love that brings them and does not allow them to leave. As soon as Pujya Bapuji comes on the Vyasa Peetha and starts showering the blessed Prasad of devotional love, the sacred stream of love springs in the heart of devotees and they start swinging with ecstasy.
Bapuji says, “I have a mantra for bringing the people under my control. That mantra is not a magic spell. It is the mantra of love.”
The two and a half lettered word Prem (love) is composed of three syllables; ‘pa’, ‘ra’ and ‘ma’. It means rejoicing in Rama, (God). Param means supreme. What is real love? Having realized oneness with the Supreme Self, beholding That beloved in all beings, doing good to them is the real love. Only Self-Realized great men can love in the real sense. It is such love that Self-Realized Bapuji gives to his devotees, the society, the world, and all beings. The surging ocean of Bapuji’s love enchants one and all. Today, people are thirsting for a drop of solace, cheerfulness and peace. Bapuji’s sweet smile, filled with love and compassion as it is, infuses the people with assurance, bliss, peace and joy.”
At times, Pujya Bapuji says from the dais, expressing his love for all, “I agree with you on a thousand points in the hope that a time may come when you will agree with me, when you accept the truth that you are eternal Self, a portion of the Supreme Self. Know this fact to realize your ever-free being and be a free soul.”
It is not that one has to become a disciple or devotee to be entitled to receive Pujya Bapuji’s love. Lakhs of backward, condemned, orphaned, and tribal people also share His love. They receive things of daily use, condolence, and also a loving smile from Pujya Bapuji. They are also given divine Name through Mantra-Diksha. They are taught how to lead a happy, healthy and noble life. How the surging sea of love overflowing from Bapuji’s heart could be confined to any narrow circle? And who can remain untouched by his love? Not only human beings, birds and even wild animals forget their violent nature and get overwhelmed with Bapu’s love when they enter the Kingdom of His divine love. Under the spell of his love, a poisonous snake too looks at him lovingly. When Bapuji used to do sadhana in dense forests, many times he would come across wild animals but never did any of them cause any harm to him.
Strange and miraculous is your mantra of love! It is indescribable. Describing it, mouth is shut, and hands become automatically folded; the head bows down in reverence and tears alone offer the flowers of love. And our heart sings:
‘How to sing your glories Bapu! How much can we respect you?
I have only one tongue and your virtues are countless.
How to sing your glories Bapu! We become just speechless.
And what should we ask for? We only bow our heads in reverence!’
